Virgin River fans were left delighted by the news the Netflix romantic drama would be returning for a third season. This is especially the case as the show has yet to resolve what will happen next with Jack Sheridan’s (played by Martin Henderson) and Charmaine Roberts’ (Lauren Hammersley) babies. Some viewers have been left wondering if there are any clues in the books the show is based on.

What happens with Charmaine’s pregnancy in the books?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for the Virgin River book series.

Netflix’s romantic drama Virgin River is based on a series of books written by Robyn Carr.

Just like the series, they detail life in the small, remote town in northern California.

The novels follow many of the same characters, including the romance between Jack and Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge).

As a result, some will be wondering if they also feature the storyline about Charmaine’s pregnancy.

In the fifth book entitled Second Chance Path, the story is focussed around characters named Vanessa and Paul.

Paul is one of Jack’s friends from his time in the Marines who has a similar situation where their ex-girlfriend says they are pregnant.

In the storyline, Paul is just finding love with Vanessa when the revelation happens.

However, he later finds out the baby is not actually his but not before her jealousy has tainted his new relationship.

This sounds very similar to the Jack, Mel and Charmaine storyline in the show, which has made some wonder whether this will happen as well.

Posting on Reddit, fan wannabeuiucma wrote: “In one of the books there’s another Marine friend of Jack’s who has a similar situation.

“Woman gets pregnant, says it’s his baby, ends up it’s not his. I’ve felt like this could be a possibility too.
